Why TJ Clarinets

Step into a world of musical innovation with our new TJ clarinet design, meticulously crafted, protoyped and tested before its grand debut in the summer of 2023. In a clarinet world dominated by a handful of renowned brands, breaking through their stronghold is no easy feat. However, we embarked on this journey with a commitment to manufacturing and performance excellence with an aim of setting us apart.

While the TJ brand has long been celebrated for its exceptional and award winning flutes, it was our daring venture into the saxophone market 30 years ago that paved the way for our success in the woodwind world. Drawing on invaluable experience gained from collaborating with sax makers, players, and teachers, we designed and manufactured over several years a market-leading range, catering to everyone from aspiring students to seasoned professionals, earning recognition worldwide.

Venturing into the realm of clarinets has always been a goal close to our hearts. Recognising the need to make a lasting impact, we understood early on that acceptance from clarinet teachers was paramount. To achieve this, we dedicated ourselves initially to designing and building an entry-level clarinet that not only stands proudly among established brands but also aligns seamlessly with our vision for TJ wooden clarinets. For us, these two levels are not separate entities but harmoniously complement each other, resulting in a clarinet experience that is truly exceptional.

Keywork

The TJ clarinets use three types of material. Standard nickel-silver for the key cups. Harder and more expensive nickel-silver for the key arms and very expensive cupronickel CuNiBe for the touchpieces and levers. The result is a very solid mechanism rarely found n clarinets outside of the professional brands

New linkage using hard stainless steel rod and high density and hugely durable silicon O ring. This provides a stronger and more reliable mechanism than seen on many clarinets.

Lower section alternative low F# and E levers

Anti-twist mounting system for more precise and durable mechanism alignment
